We are doing pure traditional Ju Jitsu. Our syllabus is a combination of punches, blocks, kicks, locks, throws, hold downs, ground work, counters, nerve points, submissions, atemi points etc. We do respect all different martial arts as they all have their own merits, strengths and history. No, we do not compete against different styles of martial arts as in our view, it is disrespectful and unfair to weigh up different methods and systems against each other. We purely focus on self defence to give you the advantage in an unforeseen situation or life threatening situation.

What to expect from your first Jujitsu class?
The rules and requirements will be explained to you, and also what we expect from you, e.g. getting to the classes on time, clean, and not wearing watches or jewellery, or under the influence of any substance, just to mention a few.
Before the classes start, the Instructor will ask the students if they are fit for class, meaning they are not injured or sick. After the class, the Instructor will ask the students if anyone was injured to ensure the session went well with no injuries.
Start and ending of classes?
When a class start, all the students will be standing in a row shoulder to shoulder and the Instructor will stand in front of them calling “Sensei ni rei!” and both sides will bow about 20 degrees to say respectfully hallo to each other. We bow to say purely Hi or Bye to each other in a respectful way. We do not discuss or promote any form of belief, religion, or political party. We also do not discriminate in any way, form or gender.
Class activities?
We ensure you are getting warmed up for your practise session. We do not focus on complete fitness, but we do focus on it when the need is there for serious competitions or gradings.
You’re warm up session takes about 20 to 30 minutes in mostly stretches, and fast repetition exercises. This is not a draining session it is a session to ensure all the muscles are loosened and talk to each other when we do certain movements and techniques.
The Instructor will start talking a lot and you need to listen. If you missed some of the discussions, you may ask the Instructor to repeat and He/She will repeat as many times as necessary.
When the Instructor start showing techniques it is most important to ensure you understand the technique before doing it on your practice partner(Uki). If you are not sure, you need to ask.
In the first few classes the students will learn how to do different forward and backward rolls, they will also learn how to do break falls when getting thrown. The basics are of utmost importance to avoid unnecessary injuries. The students will also learn when to do certain techniques slowly, to give His/Her practising partner(Uki) the chance to tap when the pain level starts. To play with these techniques and trying to hold back may cause serious injuries, the reason why you need to listen what the Instructor have to say.
